Emma Cross
Emma Cross is DDR’s Client Director. She keeps projects running smoothly, making sure everyone delivers on time. She’s the main point of contact and usually the first person you’ll speak to when you call us - here’s the lowdown on what makes her tick.
What did you do before DDR?
Area office coordinator at a regional housing association. I’ve worked a lot with customers and clients sorting out their problems as they came in. This has really given me a firm footing with our DDR clients.
Very first job?
A Saturday job, when I was 16, at my local supermarket working as a deli girl. Looking back at photos of the uniform makes me cringe but my mum was so proud!
What do you enjoy most about your work?
The best bit of the job is seeing an idea coming to life and the client coming back to us to let us know what difference having a good website has made to them.
How can clients get the best out of working with you?
Talking is the most important tool when working with us. Clients generally think they know what they want but do not have the technical knowledge to implement it. To get the best out of working with us they need an understanding of their business processes and to have trust in us to provide a solution that suits their needs. Trust between clients and providers is so important to ensure a healthy relationship
Where’s your favourite place in the world?
Mullion Cove in Cornwall will always have a very special place in my heart as it where I got engaged.

What superpower would you like to have?
Teleportation, so I can keep up with everything as time sees to go by so quickly.
Best thing a client has ever said to you?
Thanking me for spending time explaining something to them without making them feeling foolish or a time waster.
Proudest achievement?
Making it into my chosen University with an unconditional offer.

What makes a great web developer?
A great developer needs to be aware that as the industry moves so fast it is difficult to keep up but never be afraid to admit they don’t know something and always be willing to learn.
